Grammatically, “like” means the other person is a gentleman. “I will treat you like a what? Like a gentleman.” If the lyric were “as,” the singer is the gentleman and would be treating the partner “as a gentleman should treat someone.” I know there is a lot of poetic license in lyrics, but it’s interesting that as it’s written, it is correct to assume the singer has a male partner.
