Have we ever talked about that? exuse me, i know they wanted to kiss there and Bryan stopped them but the damn file name is Kiss… or is this not the file name and just a coincidence?! I need answers!

I think it’s because it’s called “kiss_alts” because there probably is a take where they did kiss, but The production team wouldn’t want to release THAT in the form of a DVD bonus, you’d want it to be more special that.

Just my thoughts, with all the elements it makes sense to me.

The fact BRYAN FULLER stopped Mads and Hugh from mushing face still astounds me

#why was Will so desperate to create a family?#how does someone who said he never connected to the concept of family go from zero to practically adopting Abigail with a stranger?#i get that it’s the desperation of the deprived + (unconsciously) falling in love with Hannibal that’s done it#but even then I’m still puzzled#I mean it might as well have been an ABO fic if you think about it#Will practically falling into Hannibal’s lap desperate for a family#and ofc hannibal happily took advantage#idk.. i suspect Oeuf is a lot more important episode than we give credit#theme-wise that is#the concept of family is the wheel that started the whole drama enmeshing everyone in the process and ended up crushing them ( @foyernormanchapel )

I always saw Will’s want for a family as a result of his empathy. He knows what it’s like to have a mom/dad/children/etc. from empathizing with others and because we know that Will is a sponge and what he takes in often sticks, we know that the feelings he would get from empathizing with someone who has familial ties (or empathizing with an entire family, like in the Red Dragon arc), that Will knows what it feels like to have those close connections and that those connections for him would feel so real because they are.

But then he looks around his own life and he sees that he, Will Graham, doesn’t have any of those connections. He didn’t know his mom. His dad was essentially a stranger. There are no siblings or family members ever shown. Those connections he empathized with don’t exist for him and it makes the disparities of his life more blaring.

And Will has been like this his whole life. He spent his entire life not having those connections himself. He can look around and empathize and feel what it’s like to have a dad/be a dad, but it’s not him and he knows it isn’t.

All this feeds into his envy, his want for that connection for himself. He’s never connected to the concept because it’s never been him. It’s been the person he’s empathized with, but not himself. (I can imagine little Will looking at other kids’ families and easily slipping into their mind without even realizing it and then going back home where he… doesn’t have any of that understanding and acceptance and love).

I think that would create a sort of bitterness inside of him where he writes family off entirely while also really, really wanting one for himself. Not someone else’s. Not the kid’s down the street. His own family who will look at him and see him and love him.

Thoughts that run through my head in the mornings: “Will #Hannibal ever come back and grace us with its gore-y elegance?” – Here’s a piece I did years back inspired by the show. 💀🍷🍖

Hannigram, Achilles and Patroclus and Family

tiggymalvern:

The scene at the end of Tome-wan where Hannibal is drawing Achilles and Patroclus is a Hannigram classic. There’s SO much going on in that scene, it’s incredibly absorbing – there’s ‘Hannibal is comparing himself and Will to Achilles and Patroclus, that’s the slashiest thing I’ve ever seen.’ There’s the way they’re looking at each other. There’s Will creeping closer to Hannibal’s desk all the time they’re talking, with his hand twitching restlessly at his side like he just wants to reach out and touch. It screams UST.

With all those shiny distractions, it wasn’t until I came to write that scene for Direct Current that I realised that through who knows how many viewings of Tome-wan, I’d managed to miss the most significant thing that’s going on. Because the most significant thing is what ISN’T happening, and what was happening before the scene we see starts. I was talking about it in the comments with @zacharybosch, and I thought what the hell, I might as well make a meta post.

When the scene opens, Hannibal is sitting at his desk drawing, and Will is presumably doing something else before he wanders over to look. Will is in Hannibal’s house, and Hannibal is sketching.

It’s the only time we ever see anything like that. When people are in his house, Hannibal is the perfect host, talking to them, offering food and drinks, always entertaining them. Yet here we see him leaving Will to his own devices while Hannibal pursues his solo hobby. Will doesn’t have to be entertained, because Will isn’t a guest any more. Will belongs in Hannibal’s house. Hannibal ignoring Will is a massive signpost that this is the point where Will has become family.
