Me, after yesterday!

So here’s the thing…

There’s a group on Facebook – Mads Mikkelsen Forever – that seems to do little else beside repost artists’ work, all with absolutely NO credit given to the artists or even acknowledgement of them. I joined yesterday and was horrified by what I was seeing… especially when I saw a repost of a piece that I had commissioned personally! When I asked for it to be taken down, I was refused and the reposter – a MOD in the group – blocked me from seeing his (re)posts. I then got abuse for my troubles. I left the group after only five hours, but it’s left a nasty taste in my mouth.

There’s also been a spurt of reposting art and manips on tumblr recently, and I would urge everyone to NOT ‘like’ or reblog these posts. Go to the source and give the creators the credit they deserve!

Reposting is not ‘sharing’ or ‘supporting’ creators. And it’s wilful ignorance to claim otherwise! It’s piggybacking at best and theft at worse.

Here endeth the lesson.

I am constantly getting into fights in the big +FANNIBALS+ group on FB, and several of the Hannigram ones about this. I imagine I have a reputation for being kind of asshole about it, and I make myself really mad when I see people essentially “like farming” using other people’s lovingly crafted work. This includes manips (because we manippers work damned hard at them) and people seem to feel that they aren’t “art” and so don’t deserve respect! I am SUPER proud of the talent in our fandom and count many of the artists as personal friends so….

…UP WITH THIS I WILL NOT PUT!!!!!

Another thing that makes me absolutely livid is when they repost and add “credit to the owner” without any link + cropped watermark
